Since I have some extra time on my hands....why not post another FBSUSP (Facebook Status Update Song Project) installment?!?
As I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of our child, what better way to kill time than capturing, preserving and showcasing some truly hilarious status updates from the last few weeks! Hope you enjoy!
It's true, some time has passed since the last installment of the Facebook Status Update Song Project, but I've been collecting updates the entire time in the hopes of creating something resembling a conventional song (with verses and a chorus and everything)! Well, thanks to the uplifting and often inspiring posts by my friends, I think I've come up with something that I've titled "Live It All Over Again." Please excuse the few sloppy edits within the song....I couldn't get it all in a single take! ;-)
Much to my own dismay, I haven't been keeping up with my little song project...not nearly to the extent that I had originally intended when I started this blog site. But I figured I might as well post the project that has diverted my attention! I've made a little promo video for the 2009 season of Prairie Repertory Theatre! They've got a great lineup of shows this season and I was given the task/opportunity to create a little something something for them! Enjoy and check back soon for the latest FBSUSP installment!
I decided to mix things up a little bit! While I was away for the weekend, the status updates just kept coming...and there were so many good ones, I wasn't sure what to do. The only way to pay homage to all of the great updates was to create nothing other than a medley....musical theatre style!

What is the Facebook Status Update Song Project?
I had this idea to write songs where the lyrics are based entirely of my Facebook friends' status updates. So, I went through an entire day's worth of updates, grabbed the video camera, sat down at the keyboard and composed a song.

The reaction of my friends was flattering, to say the least. Suggestions were popping up to make this a routine, to create a blog, start a viral campaign, etc. So, I felt that I needed to quickly do a follow-up and since it was Cinco de Mayo, it felt completely appropriate to do a tribute:
You see...status updates are really amazing and it's a shame that they come and go so quickly. The humor, the insight, the witty observations, the statements that demand further inquiry...these statements come and go so quickly, they are often missed and overlooked. It is my new goal to capture and preserve the best of my friends' status updates and share them with the world.
Please help spread the word! Long live the status update!!
